Tell us about City of Dickinson
Since the North Dakota oil boom the city has become one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. According to the 2015 census, the city is estimated to have a population of 23,765. At the City of Dickinson we oversee the day-to-day operation of the city, ensuring plans and priorities are carried out.
What challenges were you trying to solve?
We wanted a product that would not only track our staffs internet usage but also allow us to filter what sites they have access to, helping to promote a more productive work force. With the information to hand, we can then set restrictions.
Why did you choose NetSupport DNA?
We found NetSupport DNA to be more user friendly and robust than other products on the market. Although its web metering tools were one of the key features we were interested in, it also provides many more we didn’t realise we needed.
How is the software currently being used in your organisation?
We are currently using the software to track internet and application usage, to restrict internet usage, and to track some of our hardware assets. It provides robust reporting capabilities that keeps staff accountable for the sites they are visiting during work hours as well as ensuring that business resources are only used for business purposes.
How/where has NetSupport added value?
NetSupport has helped us keep staff more accountable for their usage of technology, which in turn means more time spent on work and less time spent surfing the web. I also find NetSupport DNA to be useful in providing managers reports of what their staff have been accessing each day.
